Himalayan Voluntourism is a social enterprise dedicated to the socio-economic development of rural Nepal through the spirit of volunteerism. We believe in the power of transformation through voluntourism.

We offer various volunteer programs focused on quality education, health, promoting community leadership, sustainable local businesses and environment and wildlife conservation. You work with community leaders on any topic through your personal skills and interests in various communities that HV team has been working with for more than 18 years.

The duration of our volunteer programs varies from 1 week to a maximum of 5 months, depending on the program.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and skills. The major requirement is to be able to accept the challenge and find courage to get out of your comfort zone. Willingness to work in different social and cultural set up to bring positive impact on others’ lives as well as yours.

The cost of participating in a volunteer program varies depending on the program and its duration. We have been providing exclusive personalized arrangements according to your budget and requirements. Our fees cover accommodation, meals, transportation, language translator (If required), facilitation and 24/7 safety monitor. Please check the individual program pages for specific fees or email us with your questions and queries.

Volunteers will be engaged in a variety of activities depending on area of the program you choose to join. We work on several areas including-
1. Supporting rural community schools by introducing active and inquiry-based learning techniques, teaching kids English, science and math, Training local teachers etc.
2. Leadership skill and confidence building sessions and activities for students and local people.
3. Forming and initiating sports, drama and music clubs for young boys and girls in villages.
4. Supporting local women’s group by providing skills and help them initiate local businesses. Providing trainings and encouragements to take the community leadership,
5. Introducing and promoting clean energy concepts to the locals and bring awareness overall sustainability issue.
6. Introducing sustainable and scientific way of organic farming to the local farmers. Help them with localized product marketing strategies and create sustainable business model.
7. Providing access to basic healthcare camps for local people by healthcare practitioner.

Of course, we encourage volunteers to explore local area and experience the culture during their free time. We also offer excursions, hikes, treks and cultural tours for volunteers.

We provide our volunteers with safe and comfortable accommodations on our project’s areas. We pride options of resorts, Inns, guesthouses and homestays as per volunteers’ requests. We try to use community based comfortable properties and not chain properties and we encourage our volunteers to spend locally and on local products so the proceedings remains in the community.

Absolutely! At Himalayan Voluntourism, the safety and well-being of all participants, including minors, is our top priority. Our team members undergo specialized training in child rights and child protection. We have designated child protection focal points who ensure compliance with policies and provide guidance. With our comprehensive measures in place, we create a safe and nurturing environment for minors to participate in our programs.
